Black C Mustard Seed Challenge

The following blog is a summary of the black laboratory progress throughout the Mustard Seed project. It tracks the work completed, the work still needing to be done, and compares the overall progress with the schedule.

Accomplished this week:
  • Successfully picked a theme for the entire lab, everyday life grocery store
  • Picked all the table representatives, Karthic, Monika, Nemanja, Raphael, Daylan, Joe, and Mia
  • Chose the chair, Nemanja, and vice chair, Raphael
  • Decided on a computer game rather than a hands on activity
  • All the tables handed in their lab contract on time
  • Picked the scope of the familiarization presentation, including but not limited to attention, focus, memory, and organization
  • Resolved conflicts about the project, mainly on what it entails
  • Completed the lab contract
  • Decided on specific research areas for the familiarization report for each table
  • Chose the blog writers, Monika, Nemajna, Mia, and Joe
  • Chose the blog editor and formator, Mia
  • All the tables have begun to research their familiarization topic and have divided the work loads accordingly
  • Ideas about possible game concepts were discussed on a table basis
  • Several meetings between team representatives occurred to ensure all the tables were clear on what the expectations are and how the project will progress

To be accomplished next week:
  • Each table will complete their familiarization presentation, which entails each team member to have their respective section completed on time
  • Design and planning ideas will be brain stormed by each table
  • Design and planning ideas will be voted upon by the table representatives
  • The individual tables will be informed on the decision and given time to appeal
  • Becoming familiar with the game developing software by downloading it on the lab computers and exploring its functions
  • Plan for the functioning and concept development report during the long lab. First on the table level and then on the representative level
  • Several tables have decided to contact the experts in their field to inquire about the project and get additional information regarding the topic
  • Ideas about design are going to be shared to prevent duplication and ensure compliance with the designated theme and scope
  • Possible solutions will be discussed by the tables and then passed to the table representatives
  • The solutions will become the basis for the game ideas
  • Comprehensive ideas about each tables section for the game will be decided upon based on the solutions gathered from the familiarization presentation
  • The design components will be started by each group on Friday
  • The groups will come up with a plan on how to execute the game
  • The plans will be shared with the entire lab
