Lab A Weekly Update - Week 2

Work continues to move ahead steadily. Some adjustments have been made to our overall product to reign-in some overly ambitious plans. We are now focusing on 4 levels each representing a core aspect of social cues. The new strategy is to have each level progress in three stages of increasing difficulty. Each stage awards the user a trophy/medal with the final award unlocking the next level. Since our concepts are also progressive in their ordering (physical cues, facial expressions, conversation skills all culminating in job interview skills) this will make a smooth and effective transition pedagogically speaking.

Our internal lab use case documents will be complete on Monday and the programming, content creation and testing teams will begin building post haste. We suspect that these documents will avoid missteps in when developing and serve as a blueprint for not only construction but testing as well.

What follows are the group breakdowns for the past week. Please refer to Figure 1 below for the project timeline progress chart.

A1
  • Begun preliminary planning for level
  • Familiarization presentation completed
  • Use-case docs started (as well as functionality report)

A2
  • Completed the familiarization presentation on Thursday
  • We have planned to merge each lab table group into larger groups to create fewer portions of the game/project
  • The decision was based on the newly acquired information from the Mustard Seed speakers
  • Theme was decided to remain as a job hunter
  • Paul has created the function which awards trophies for the completion of a level

A3

A5
  • The general idea and concept for the actual workings of the game have been determined. It will revolve around a target practice shooting game to hit the correct icons/pictures associated with the correct choice in filling in part of a conversation sentence or similar
  • The familiarization presentations were completed successfully, and a better understanding of the direction of the lab as a whole has been determined
  • Work has begun on the game specifics and game phrases to be used
  • Multiple meetings have been set up to ensure the use case documents and Design Proposal Report are completed on schedule

A6
  • Research background information for the Familiarization Presentation
